On the Eve of War - Producer/Director/Editor
This independent documentary explores the theme of supporting the troops during wartime—and what role dissent might play in that process—by following the experiences of several military families.
Meth: Don’t Go There! and Mentally Convicted - Assistant Instructor, NW Film Center Young Filmmakers Program
Led two different groups of high school students in a semester-long videomaking project, coaching them in story creation, scripting, storyboarding, acting, lighting, videography, and editing. Both of these high school projects were sponsored by Oregon Partnership, a drug-awareness and prevention program. (15 minutes each, 2003 & 2004)
Hempsters: Plant the Seed - Editing Supervisor, Digital Media Education Center, Portland OR
Coordinated three groups of student editors over two camps, advising them on style and technique. Aided the director and his producer in honing the narrative structure of the film. This documentary was completed in DMEC’s Final Cut Pro Film Camp. (110 minutes, 2002)
Nobody Beats Charlie – Pretty Dangerous – Hell - Assistant Editing Supervisor Digital Media Education Center
Assisted in advising the student editors, ensuring a consistent style between editors and the director(s), and system and file maintenance. All three of these narratives were finished in DMEC’s Avid Film Camp. (all Feature Length, all 2001)
Damn! It’s Dark in the Closet - Instructor and Producer
Galileo Peer Resource Center, San Francisco
Led 8 high school students in a two-month videomaking project, coaching them in story creation, scripting, storyboarding, acting, lighting, videography, and editing. Using a combination of narrative and documentary styles, these students engage peers in a thought-provoking discussion of the consequences of homophobia for both gay and straight youth. (19 minutes, 2001)
Alternative Hustle - Instructor and Producer, Youth Treatment and
Education Court (YTEC), San Francisco
Led 12 high school students in a three-month videomaking project, coaching them in story creation, scripting, storyboarding, acting, lighting, videography, and editing. YTEC students explore the choices that got them involved in the juvenile justice system, their thoughts and feelings about incarceration, and, most importantly, what their hopes are for the future. (10 minutes, 2000)
Destination: Kyrgyzstan - Producer/Scriptwriter
Historically a crossroads of trade and culture, the newly-independent Kyrgyzstan is home to tremendous ethnic and cultural diversity. (22 minutes, 1996)
